Become a UFA Delegate
Becoming a UFA Delegate is an opportunity to represent your district's members, strengthen the voice of our co-operative, and help shape UFA's future. If only one nomination is received in a district, the candidate may be acclaimed.
Eligibility and Expectations
Candidates must be UFA members holding a $5 share and have either $2,000 in equity or $2,500 in purchases in the previous fiscal year. Candidates must not be UFA employees or agents, must not hold conflicting roles with other organizations, and must have reasonably used UFA services in the past year.
Delegates attend UFA Annual and Special Meetings in March, August, and November. They vote on by-laws and resolutions, participate in Board elections, engage with members in their district, and represent UFA at local events. The time commitment is approximately 8 - 10 days per year, with meetings scheduled during the off-season whenever possible. Delegates serve a four-year term beginning in July following the election.
Compensation and Support
Delegates receive an annual retainer of $9,000, paid monthly. Approved activities beyond regular duties are compensated at $500 per day. Delegates are eligible for $1,000 annual training allowance for leadership and governance development. Each delegate directs a $500 annual donation to a registered charity in their district. Travel and reasonable expenses for official duties are reimbursed.
Nomination and Key Dates
Nominations open February 2, 2026 and close March 25, 2026. If more than one candidate is nominated within a district, voting runs June 14 to July 2, 2026. Where only one nomination is received, acclamation may occur June 2, 2026. The four-year term starts July 20, 2026.
